Each crane operation would definitely require each individual to undergo training before they get to use it. There are instructions that are made to be followed to ensure the overall safety throughout the process. Every person should have the exact knowledge before he will be allowed to operate these machines.

A crane is a vertical device that is used for lifting. It must not be used to drag or pull a specific load. Position it directly perpendicular to the load that will be lifted or else, you can only damage the machine. Any operator who leaves it suspending a certain load will be subject to some disciplinary actions which may sometimes revoke his license to operate it.

Before you begin a certain lift, inspect clearly the entire proposed path of the machine and pay attention to some overhead obstacles that you might encounter. Always have a spotter with you especially when passing through blind spots. Never attempt a critical lift and never exceed its capacity until you have had several experiences already.

It must maintain a rigorous inspection program as well. Maintenance is often done by those qualified personnel only. It is often required whenever a wire has wrapped incorrectly on its drum or a certain limit switch would fail in either upper or lower modes. In case of suspected failures, the operator should immediately cease the entire operation and remove its power. This should also be informed directly to the management.

The most fragile part of the job of the crane would be the rigging of a certain load. A poor rigging might result in some property damage, personnel injuries and other serious hazards. It will certainly be the time consuming portion of the whole operation and will also be the dangerous part. Proper caution should always be taken to assure that the slings will not be destroyed by some pointed corners or too much loading.

Rigging is often practiced for several years before it would be perfected. Proper time management is often required to successfully end each task. The tools and screws that will be used to secure the load must also be checked to guarantee safety. These may be essential projectiles during a certain lift.

A crane lift will often need the use of some slings. These are made generally from nylon and wire mesh. These nylon slings do have an advantage of being simple to wrap around a certain load, but could be cut and damaged easily. A visible red ink will appear in its surface or at the point of casualty as well. It is important to remove the damaged ones as soon as possible.

There are also signal that are used in such operations. It is important that every operator know the standard hand signals because the background noise would definitely make communication impossible. Obedience to all stop signals is highly required regardless of whoever gives it.

The operator would be directly responsible for a safe crane operation. In case that safety is doubted, he must stop it and refuse to continue. Some companies even require a certain age limit to become qualified for such. Instructions that are provided by some manufacturers must also be observed throughout the whole procedure to be able to control it properly and safely.
